No More Talk Sex With Sue

Published by afragmin at 7:07 am under Adult Programming, Hall of Fame Edit This

Of all the shows that have been announced as recently canceled, I have to say that I am going to miss Oxygen Channel’s Talk Sex with Sue Johanson the most.  On her May 11 broadcast,  Sue announced that  the show would not be coming back. Surrounded by her crew and staff, Sue bid a tearful farewell to the audience and promised that she would not be “quitting sex,” stating instead that she would still be touring college campuses.

I’ll miss Sue’s casual, easy-going sex advice. Her Sunday night show was one of my favorites. Some of her callers were bordering on insane, yet no matter how ridiculous the question, Sue always answered them respectfully and truthfully. Unlike a lot of sex advice shows, Sue was always fairly nonplussed about the subject matter her callers quizzed her over. That gave the show a real sense of honesty that other advice experts simply don’t have.

Yeah, I’m looking at you, “Dear” Abby.

I hope Oxygen has the good sense to replace this show with something decent (NOT Tori Spelling’s godawful reality show, in other words.) Talk Sex with Sue was one of the programs that always put Oxygen above and beyond Lifetime: The Channel That Hates Women because it treated the women in their audience as equals (*cough* instead of stupid victims *cough.*)  I hope it continues this trend.

On her last show, Sue said, “There’ll be a great big hole in my heart. I love doing this show. And it hurts leaving my loving crew. We’ve been together 14 years in total… it’s been a loving family.”

I know the feeling, Sue. Whatever Oxygen replaces Talk Sex  with will never quit fill the hole Talk Sex has left.
